Mohammed Al-Barwani

Mohammed
Al-Barwani is Founder, Owner & Chairman
of MB Holding Company LLC. Mr.
Al-Barwani earned his Bachelor of
Science at the University of Miami-Ohi,
USA and Master of Science from
University of Harriet Watt, Edinburgh,
UK in Petroleum Engineering.
A petroleum engineer by profession, he
has an extensive experience of over 35
years in the oil industry in Oman and
abroad. He joined Petroleum Development
Oman in 1976 and held several senior
engineering and managerial positions in
the company executing prestigious
projects. In 1986, he left PDO to take
MB Group on the fast track of growth.
Under his dynamic leadership, MB Holding
Company LLC has become over US$600
million strong company employing over
4,000 people from different
nationalities, with operations spread
across the Middle East, Far East and
Europe. The group of companies has wide
ranging interests in Oilfield Services,
Exploration and Production of Oil and
Gas, Mining and Investments.
Mr. Al-Barwani is also the Chairman of
other group companies including National
Mining Company, MB Petroleum Services,
Crest Oil & Gas, Petrogas E&P and Daleel
Petroleum. He also holds the positions
of Deputy Chairman of Oman Air (national
airline of Oman) and Chairman of Board
of Directors of Transgulf Investment
Holding Company.

Hafidh Al Busaidi
Chief Executive Officer
A Graduate of Imperial College of Science & Technology, London University in Petroleum Engineering and Diploma holder in Accounting & Finance from Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants, London.
Extensive hands on experience in Upstream Oil Industry. During the career span of last 30 years, he has worked in several senior positions in Petrophysics, Drilling Engineering, Production Technology, Gas Engineering and Production Operation with Abu Dhabi Marine Offshore Operating Company (ADMA) and also Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), a Shell operating Company.
Joined MB Petroleum Services in January, 2000 as General Manager (Production Services) and promoted to the position of the Chief Executive Officer and subsequently assigned as Chief Executive Officer of National Mining Company (a fully owned subsidiary of MB Group).

Shankarabanda Satya Simha
Concentrator Manager
Shankarabanda
Satya Simha completed his post
graduation in Mineral Processing from
Karnataka University in 1979 and joined
Hindustan Copper Limited in India as
graduate engineer. He has done crusher
plant, grinding circuit and flotation
circuit studies at Malanjkhnad Copper
Project and at Khetri Copper Complex.
After serving copper concentrators for
15 years, he joined Bharat Gold Mines as
Chief Metallurgist at Kolar Gold Fields.
The Nundydroog Mill flowsheet was
modified and de-bottle necking was done
for smooth operation. He served
Government of Botswana (Africa) in
Department of Mines for 3 years as
Principal Mining Engineer (Metallurgy).
Subsequently, he joined Chaithanya Geo
Lynx, a geological and mineral
consultancy as Mineral Consultant. He
started environmental wing in the firm
and has also started three chemical
laboratories to cater to the iron ore
mines around Hospet.
He has experience in the commissioning
of ball mills, flotation cells, AMDEL’s
In Stream Analyser and Outokumpu’s On
Stream Analyser, Knelson Concentrators
and CIP circuits. He has expertise in
mineral grinding and flotation circuits.

Kylie Prendergast
General Manager – Exploration
Kylie
Prendergast joined NMC in 2008. She is a
first class Honours graduate in Economic
Geology and holds a PhD from James Cook
University, Australia. Post-graduate
business studies assist her in blending
technical and commercial components of
the role.
Kylie held senior exploration and
project generation roles in Australia
and Mongolia and other countries. Her
career in the mining industry includes
involvement in resource and feasibility
programs as well as management of
mineral exploration from regional
reconnaissance through to advanced
projects. She has experience in a broad
range of commodities including Archaean
gold; intrusive related gold; porphyry,
skarn, epithermal copper/gold systems;
VMS; sediment-hosted Pb-Zn; Fe oxide
Cu-Au; Ni-sulphide and coal.
Kylie views the development and
mentoring of graduate and junior
geologists as a key aspect of her role.

Lawrence Manjengwa
Mine Manager
Lawrence Manjengwa holds a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe and he is a member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM). Lawrence is responsible for the safe production of copper sulphide ore from National Mining Company’s Hatta and Shinas open pit mines that are situated about 80 kilometers away from the company’s Lasail copper concentrator. The transportation of the copper ore by road from the mine sites to the concentrator is also part of his responsibilities and this function is outsourced to a local transport company.
Lawrence’s mining career is dominated by domestic and international assignments in open pit mining (covering both mine planning and production) for a number of multinational companies. He spent most of his career in Southern African countries before moving to the Gulf. He has been involved in the start up of a number of new projects where he was instrumental in developing and ramping up strategies to take projects to full capacity mine production. He has been involved mainly in base metals and platinum mining projects where he had both operational and managerial exposure. He has exceptional drilling and blasting experience that he gained over years, during when he successfully dealt with related challenges at different mining sites.
Lawrence is married and he is a proud father of two children. He enjoys touring new places with his family and playing with kids during free time.

Purvang Shah
Finance Manager
Purvang
Shah is the Finance Manager of National
Mining Company. He holds a Bachelors
Degree in Commerce from Bombay, India.
He is an Associate Member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India. He also holds diploma in Forex
Management from World Trade Centre,
Bombay, India.
Purvang is a senior finance professional
with eleven years of experience in
Financial Analysis, Reporting and
Accounting related to different areas of
business operations like manufacturing,
sales, marketing, corporate affairs in
the petroleum and pharmaceutical
industries. Prior to working in NMC he
worked for eight years in the finance
department of MB Petroleum and UES.
