Ghuzayn Project
Ghuzayn Project

This highly prospective area for development
of new resources was originally applied for by
NMC in 2003 following the negative feasibility
by JICA who had discovered substantial blind
deposits under thick cover but considered them
uneconomic at the time and relinquished the
area.
Following revision of the regulations for the
new Oman Mining Act, NMC reapplied in May 2004
for an Exploration License covering 200 sq km
surrounding the known VMS resources at Ghuzayn.
We believe that these resources are
potentially open pittable but need detailed
exploration and metallurgical study and their
development with processing of ore at Lasail
would follow completion of the Shinas project
resources.
An exploration license for Ghuzayn area was
provided to NMC in June 2005. Exploration work
at Ghuzayn is continuing, with the results
indicating a modestly sized, lower grade
resource.
