Explorations
– Proposed Exploration
Resource drilling at Hatta in 2005 extended
the known Hatta massive sulphide resource
northwards beneath the wadi. Drilling at Hatta
South defined the limits of the massive
sulphides resource. Drilling at Hatta Extended
has shown that this small resource remains
open to the west. An exploration drill hole at
Semdah West identified strong disseminated
chalcopyrite mineralisation in a highly
altered and quartz stockworked dacite dike.
A recent 3D IP survey of the Hatta, Shinas and
Ghuzayn No 3 deposits produced encouraging
results, identifying further zones of
chargeability and conductivity that are
interpreted as additional disseminated and
massive sulphide resources at all three
deposits.
Further 3D IP surveys are planned at Ghuzayn
for the No1 and 2 deposits in late 2006 and at
Semdah West to define the extents of the known
mineralisation and search for additional
geophysical targets. EM geophysical surveys
are also planned in the Maqabil-Fayd region
where extensive zones of alteration in
footwall Geotimes Volcanics, like that at
Hatta, suggest that there is excellent
potential for massive sulphides preserved at
depth beneath hanging wall Lasail Volcanics.
Similar, more intense alteration in the
eastern part of the Ghuzayn Block will also be
explored by EM.
An extensive drilling program is planned for
the second half of 2006 to test all
geophysical targets identified to date, and to
complete the resource drillouts of the Shinas
and the Ghuzayn No 3 deposits.
